Practical Work in Key Stage 2 Science

primary science practical work primary science practicals Practical WorkPractical Work is an integral part of Key Stage 2 science lessons, you can’t create the fantastic scientist of tomorrow without giving them a chance to get their hands grubby today.  But practical work in KS2 science it notoriously badly done, with the point of the practical work getting lost in the chaos of broken test tubes and excitable children. It’s time to change the reason for practical work away from showing children a phenomenon, to children discovering a phenomenon.

This short Primary Practicals course aims to change the way that teachers think about practical primary science, helping them move away from it being a scary necessity of Key Stage 2 science lessons with no real learning taking place, to a fun and engaging learning activity for the children.  Not only will this improve the scientific understanding of the children, it will help with behaviour management, resources and planning.
